Building Overhang Collapses in Boston

- January 17, 2012

A large portion of the overhang on the main entry door of the Thomas P. O'Neill Federal Building in Boston collapsed Monday night, according to fire officials.

The collapse occurred after water leaking from a burst pipe in the ceiling began to flow into the lobby of the building, eventually causing a 20-foot by 60-foot piece of the overhang covering the building's entryway to fall.

No injuries were reported in the collapse.

Investigators believe that the cause of the pipe damage is weather related.
